JRC Senior Housing in Canton, OH

Update

Although REM Commercial no longer manages JRC Senior Housing Tom Thompson was so pleased with the work we had done that he recommended us to the condo board that he is a member of as well as another condo board to which he is closely tied. REM Commercial started managing both of these associations in January 2020.

Background:

JRC Senior Housing is one of three private, not for profit organizations under JRC. The other two are the JRC Learning Center and JRC Adult Day Center. The mission of JRC is to enrich lives through educating children, engaging seniors and strengthening community.

Customer:

JRC Senior Housing is a smoke-free, 65-unit subsidized senior apartment complex located in Canton, Ohio. Staff is on call for tenants 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Tom at JRC Senior Housing was not satisfied with the work that the previous property management company was doing and needed to find a trustworthy and professional team to take over. Because JRC is a not for profit organization, they have to make decisions about management that are both cost effective and providing quality service. REM Commercial was the answer.

Challenge:

The previous property management company Tom was working with had failed to provide any upgrades to the property, and was not providing the customer service needed or expected. In addition, the building had a non-smoking policy that management was not enforcing. The overall conditions of the building were declining and residents weren’t happy with the way issues were being handled.

Solution:

JRC Senior Housing started their partnership with REM Commercial in December of 2016. As soon as our team started, we took care of the issues that the previous management company had been neglecting.

We also worked to enforce the non-smoking policy that the previous company had trouble keeping in place, and the building became much cleaner as a result. Respective repairs were made and addressed in a timely manner, and onsite management was much more responsive to the needs of the residents.

Overall, the residents noticed a big difference in the quality of service and the professionalism once our team had taken over the management and maintenance. Although the building is under new ownership now and Tom’s partnership with REM Commercial has ended, he was very appreciative of the way our team handled issues in a timely manner and made sure the property was taken care of.
